The Business Class challenge. We are looking for...
..innovative concepts, opportunities and business ideas in the energy, society and real estate area that can lead to:
More efficient resource and energy use.
Reduced climate impact.
Solutions that simplifies life for individuals or companies in these areas and strengthens the economic, social and / or ecological sustainability.
The solution must be based on the open data provided, it can be used "stand alone" or in combination with other data, own or open.
We are also looking for business ideas and business models linked to the solution – a clear business case must exist – and how we can collaborate in the future.
The Open Data – usage
You can use the data according to Creative Commons license – CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 (Attribution, Non-Commercial, Share Alike)

NRGY HUB Open Data Challenge (powered by Mälarenergi) is open for Swedish startups, scaleups (Business Class) and students who have Sweden as their place of residence and are affiliated with a Swedish university (University Class).
If you are an international startup or scaleup, you can apply if you are connected to a relevant Swedish incubator, growth hub etc.
Application deadline is October 24th, 2021.
8 companies will be shortlisted and announced by the review board.
The 10 day challenge period is November 1st to November 10th.
Your final pitch is performed to the Jury during the annual energy conference HUB2021, November 16th in Västerås, Sweden.

The winner award is:
A project for a PoC, worth up to 200 000 SEK (approx. €20,000), with the ultimate goal to be productized and offered to Mälarenergi customers.

The Open Data
By providing you with real yearly, monthly and daily energy data for one of the largest level residential areas in Västerås, Sweden. We are eager to see how your innovative approaches can make our daily energy usage more sustainable and efficient with for example novel analytical methods, visualization techniques and/or maybe combining our data with other relevant data.
The data that we make public origins from the years 2019 and 2020, and represents both the electricity and district heating usage, sometimes also fresh water usage, of buildings and households in the selected area. The data are aggregated into smaller groups with consists at least of five households in order to not reveal any sensitive behavioural information of individual users, but play with the idea that still future services and solutions could be given directly to individual households!
Your solutions should contribute to some value in terms of economic, environmental or social sustainability for the individual households, energy utilities, cities and/or to the society as a whole!

Water usage data have been added to some of the groups.
Data describing some of the properties, such as size of property, areas and volumes of the buildings, etc. have been gathers and calculated via data from Lantmäteriet.
